URBAN GAME combines three huge inscriptions in the urban space of Tallinn. The first word is UNIWERSAM (Shopping Centre), the second is ELANA (fabric factory) and the third is IZBA PRZYJĘĆ (hospital). Every inscription is a neon sign that doesn't work anymore. That is why the only highlighted elements are words generated in Estonian by using Polish words. This is a key to understand the installation. Motto perfectly relates to the idea of saving inscriptions, which are the symbols of ordinary people and places usually unnoticed by the history. These are the elements of Polish architecture that – despite the times they come from – pejoratively marked, they remain thanks to the author’s actions. These are the symbols of people who came through changes in post-war Poland. People who weren’t heroes fighting against the system, people who agreed to their lives and their fate.
Kompozycja Urban Game
Kompozycja powstała pod wpływem inspiracji popularną grą Scrabble. Instalacja ma jednak niewiele wspólnego z regułami tej gry. Napisy pozostają w niezmienionej, pierwotnej formie.
